The compound was founded on the basis of building the complete individual not the complete wrestler or even the complete athlete. One of the greatest wrestlers of all time Dan Gable was quoted as saying "After you've wrestled, everything else is easy." We believe in our wrestlers following that mentality in their daily lives on and off the mat. Not just holding them accountable for their performance through wrestling, but their performance in life can produce not only great wrestlers but great young men and women who enter adulthood seeing life's battles as easy.

Our established and consistent system of wrestling is the main ingredient to producing elite wrestlers. Focusing on core technique and strategy and training work ethic that is successful on a high level will be the main focus of the daily routine at the Compound. Sound fundamentals, proper match strategy, controlled training environment, video evaluation, documented and scheduled training regimen are all key things that the Compound would map out for each athlete and mold to his/her strengths.

Although not all kids are destined to be elite competitors, it is a belief that if the mentality and goals of the entire school is to produce successful wrestlers, competitors and individuals that everyone will benefit from the day-to-day training. Building a "expected standard" of training every practice session will in term produce results in all areas. The great thing about the sport of wrestling is that its a sport where you can outwork your way to the top. Our comprehensive approach to wrestling will mesh a technique system with sport specific strength training and accompany both with the psychological mindset it takes to become an elite athlete. Our athletes will believe that success does not come by chance but comes through preparation and hard work.

As the saying goes, " If you build it, they will come."
The Compound Wrestling Center, LLC
became a reality on January 24, 2010.

The process started as the vision of a few like minded friends and wrestling enthusiasts.  The original vision of The Compound Wrestling Center founders was to develop a private wrestling center to aid in the development of the numerous talented wrestlers who reside and compete in Atlanta's South Metro area.  Over the course of several months, coaches were identified, private investors came forward, and the wrestling community started buzzing with the possibility of what might be.

During the summer months of 2009, The Compound team was established and the project steamrolled forward from there.  A temporary facility was located and designed to fulfill the immediate needs of the wrestling community.  Coaches Cliff Fretwell and Lee Roper committed themselves to the project 100%, and began running with all aspects of the planning and development phase.

With the coaching staff in place and the financial support of the few prominent Henry County businessmen and wrestling supporters, The Compound Wrestling Center, LLC became a reality.  We built it and the wrestling community came.

The temporary facility is just a sample of a much larger master plan that will offer an all inclusive training site.  Training programs will include speed, strength/agility training, football skills/drills, personal fitness, and weight training.  Compound Training, LLC, is currently in the development and building phase.  When completed, wrestlers will be able to train in a state of the art wrestling center.  The wrestling building will eventually offer three full mats and over 7800 square feet of dedicated wrestling space.  The future wrestling center is designed to incorporate speed, strength, and agility training while accommodating the needs of the wrestlers' parents. The coaching staff will teach the sport by following a systematic approach that will grow and adjust with the age, experience, and skill level of each wrestler.  The Compound wrestling facility will offer nationally known guest clinicians on a regular basis.  Additionally, the facility will offer unique camp opportunities that will incorporate the entire Compound Training site, which includes indoor and outdoor training.

The future is now for those choosing to train at The Compound.  All are welcome at The Compound.

A special thanks to the numerous people who supported The Compound by donating goods or services.  Your efforts made it possible for the temporary wrestling site to open and immediately be able to accommodate the needs of our wrestling family.
